The Dorset is believed to be one of the oldest breeds in Britain. The Dorset Horn is our native version of the Dorset. In the early 1900s, rams were imported from Australia which helped to create the poll Dorset which is hornless.

Dorset sheep are able to have 3 crops of lambs over 2 years due to their ability to breed outside of the breeding season unlike other sheep.

Dorset wool is good quality and are a nice big white fleece with plenty of crimp. The fleeces are soft and springy with a good staple length and strength which is ideal for spinning and wearing
