Unique feature: Alpaca is a very fine and smooth haired natural fibre which creates such a smooth haired surface texture and a beautifully soft yarn. Comes in all natural shades and the white can be dyed easily into any colour.
British Alpaca varies in staple length, colour and it is super soft. This is a truly great fibre for purposes of spinning and top coat needle felting. Its not just the texture that is important, alpaca comes in many beautiful colours. All colours are in stock at Benridge Woolworks. In many ways Alpaca is an easy option for replacing imported top coats for needle felting like merino which is hard to find in the UK. Although we cannot guarantee there isn’t lanolin contamination, Alpaca is a hypoallergenic fibre which acts as a great alternative to UK wool so British fibre farmers can still be supported. Alpaca can be blended with other fine wools to create both the structure and softness in the fibre.
