This breed of sheep were known to roam the northern parts of England in the Middle Ages alongside other now extinct breeds. This breed is typically a docile sheep who are easy to manage and rear. They require little input due to their hardy nature. They have 2 very prominent horns which curl and spiral round their ears. Their horns have been used on shepherd crooks for years due to how strong they are. They have a beautiful face which typically is a white oval in the middle of their face with the outer parts being black.
They produce a long fleece which is coarse to provide them warmth and protection. They have a reliant fleece which felts very well. They are a perfect fibre for rug making and also for needle felting projects.
