Unique features: A native, rare breed from the North of England opens up a big craft theme with this wool type. Border Leicester has a beautiful crimp and it lovely to spin with. It can be used in other crafts like needle felting, peg loom weaving and weaving so it is quite versatile. Border Leicester will also dye very easily and it is generally an easy wool to work with

This breed has been bred since the late 18th century and was a cross between the English Leicester and the Cheviot.

They have very distinctive ears which stand tall from their heads and have a very rounded nose giving them a very long face shape. They are hornless and do not have wool on their face or legs.

Border Leicester is a high class white wool developed in Northern England. It is very soft to touch and comes with a great long lightly crimped stable. Quality weaving and spinning is the job for this amazing breed. They provide a natural elasticity for knitting yarns. This breed is super soft and wearable next to the skin.
