This breed has evolved from the Southdown Ram and a Norfolk Horn ewe. It wasn’t recognised as a breed until 1810 where it has just increasingly gained popularity. They are one of the leading choices for commercial sires who are known for producing fantastic lambs. The suffolk is hornless with distinctive black colouring to their head and legs.
They have a very dense fleece which is white and only covers their body. They typically have a very short staple length which is very soft. We consider Suffolk wool to be a wearable fibre and is suitable for spinning and weaving.
