Region: Isle of Texel - North of The Netherlands representation bred in the UK
Coarse, medium/full bodied blue/grey coloured fleece
Average Fleece Weight: 2-3.5 KG
Average Staple length: 2-5 inches.
Micron Range: 31-35
Recommended craft areas - needle felting, peg loom rugs (but only if a longer staple fleece)
Unique features: The most unique feature of this breed is the gorgeous blue/grey colouration which is absolutely beautiful for wool craft. Blue Texel doesn’t blend well so you can’t really soften the wool so it is a little coarser but the colours make it one of the most beautiful craft fleeces to produce with.
Blue Texels are Texels which express the recessive blue gene. This gives them their striking appearance in colour and markings. Their fleeces can range in colour from steely blue to brown and in some cases black and grey.
Blue Texel is a beautiful bouncy, colourful wool full of colour. Blue Texel is amazing for colours in needle felting, peg loom rug making and spinning. The wool is fluffy to touch.
