Charollais - carded
This breed of sheep has been around since the 19th Century and was developed in France. It hit the British shores in 1976!
Charollais are a top quality sheep which are very large in stature. They are bred to produce superb prime lambs. They tend to have a slightly pink tinge to their head and have a white/ creamy fleece on their body.
They have a dense white fleece with a spongy texture which is soft. A great all purpose wool and perfect for the peg loom. We find that it takes to the dyes very well too.
Average Fleece Weight: 1-2 KG
Average Staple length: 1.5-2.5 inches.
Micron Range: 29-31
