This breed of sheep was formed at around 1970 and was a combination of the South Devon and Devon Longwool. Native to the South West of the UK this is a lowland sheep and there aren’t many of them around so they have a rarebreed status with the RBST. Breeders are working hard to keep up their numbers.
The fleece is creamy white and very hair like but it is softer than most of the coarser longwool breeds.
Average Fleece Weight 4 kg
Average Staple Length 7-10 inches
Micron Range 40-42
Recommended Craft Areas - Needle felting and abstract art projects
