This breed is fairly new to the British shores and is regularly known as ‘The world's cutest sheep!’ They were imported from Switzerland where they inhabited the mountains of Valais. The valais is a mountain breed which is adapted to grazing stoney mountainous areas. Both sexes have 2 horns which are a helix shape which frame their black face.
According to breed standards, only the females are allowed to have black spots on their legs. The rams should have completely white wool. Known for their friendly and docile nature, these have become very popular with smallholders in recent years. Due to the longer staple length that these offer, they are excellent for rug making.
