Castlemilk Moorit (British Rarebreed)-WD
These sheep are very rough and resilient to most weather and ground conditions. They typically have a small body but are very long legged.
Their fleeces range from a cream, tan and brown in places and it is very soft to handle and work with. Their fleece only covers their body only, so typically don't have much weight to the fleeces due to a smaller body compared to other sheep breeds. They have 2 horns, regardless of gender! The male horns produce more of a spiral shape around their ears, whereas the females remain semi curled but above their ears.
It's very easy to work with all round but particularly great for rug making. We personally find it a little too coarse for underlayers of clothing. But it excels in most craft areas and blends with grey to get some amazing wildlife colours for needle felting.
Average Fleece Weight: 1-2 KG
Average Staple length: 2-4 inches.
Micron Range: 30-32
