W&D - Leicester Longwool (British Rarebreed)

£45.00

This breed was developed in the 18th century in Bakewell and they have been hugely important for the British Longwool breeds. They are large bodied sheep who are hornless. They have curly locks which cover their body, face and legs. They have a white face but slightly bluish coloured ears. They have lovely long curly locks which can grow past their knees! These are a very rare breed whose numbers have fallen quite low in recent years.

Their fleeces are a high quality spinning fleece giving a strong yarn. Leicester Longwool has a long staple and feels very soft to touch. The staple length and strength is excellent for peg loom weaving in all processing stages and the beautiful long locks are fantastic for needle felting and other artistic displays

Average Staple Length: 7-10 Inches

Micron Range: 35-38#
